In the PS3's latest firmware update (3.41), PS Store Recommendations were added to the PS Store, and it seemed as if that was all that was added. But there apparently appears to be a hidden 'feature' within the new firmware and it will make future PSN updates smaller and faster.
If you didn't know already, PS3 firmware updates are downloaded at a pretty large file size, at least when they're compared to what they could be. This is because when you update your PS3, you're also downloading previous firmware information along with the actual update.
In firmware version 3.41 this has been changed. Instead of downloading past firmware update data with every regular firmware update, you will now only download the actual update, not any previous data. This will create smaller download sizes and faster updates for the future.
