If you can remember not too long ago, Activision boss Bobby Kotick admitted that he wouldn't mind if Call of Duty got an online membership/subscription service, where you would most likely have to pay to play the game's multiplayer (link). While we don't have anything official on that right now, someone recently recorded something odd on Modern Warfare 2 which we would like to share with you.

The video (found here: link), first posted on 360Junkies.com (link), shows an unknown 'Memberships' screen that allows you to 'Add MS Points' (money) to your account to sign up for a membership, probably to Call of Duty.

"I was trying to join a friend's session on MW2 the other day and had this screen pop up. It clearly says at the top of this menu: 'Modern Warfare 2 Membersh', in which we can confidently assume that the last word is 'Memberships'," said the video's poster (link).

"If you'll notice at the bottom is an option to 'Add Microsoft Points', clearly indicating that this was intended to be a menu for purchasing different levels of Membership, presumably memberships would have been offered in a variety of durations."

We don't know what this is but we are unfortunately guessing that it is a membership service being tested on the game that a user happened to run in to. If the video is not a fake (it looks quite real), then we are guessing this service will include a required monthly fee of some sort.

Let's hope that nothing like that happens for any game or franchise. We will keep you updated.
